Tired of constantly coloring your hair to have it fade out in a matter of weeks? Well try these tips before and after getting your hair colored to keep your color vibrant and beautiful.
1. Start Strong. One week before getting your hair colored, use a clarifying shampoo to remove any access oils and dirt from your hair. This will give your hair a deep clean, while making it easier for the color to take to your hair. After the shampoo, use a Moroccan Oil deep conditioner. It is all natural, and will help to protect your hair from any damage from the hair color.
2. Do your research. Look up different hair color ideas, to find colors you like and do not like. It will help give you a better idea of what you are looking for. If you find a picture with the color you really love, print it out. It helps to have a visual, so your stylist can easily match the color, and see how it will look with your skin tone. If the stylist does not think it is a good match, they can show you other color options that will be.
3. Keep your hair dirty. Do not wash your hair for at least 24 hours prior to getting a hair coloring service done. If you do, it can strip your hair of its natural oils, causing your scalp to be more sensitive. Those natural oils help adhere the color to your hair.
4. Make it last. After your hair stylist has finished your hair color and you have left the salon, do not wash your hair for 48 hours. It takes 48 hours for the hair color to completely lock into your hair. After 48 hours, wash your hair in warm water, with a color safe shampoo and conditioner to keep color from fading.
To keep your color for as long as possible, do not wash your hair everyday. Wash it every other day or every two days. The more you wash your hair the more your color is going to bleed. In between washes, use a dry shampoo. You spray it on your roots, and rub it in with your finger tips. It will eat up the access oil, so your hair does not look greasy.
Hope you enjoyed these tips, and have beautiful, long-lasting hair color.
