How To Make Your Make-up Last During The Summer Heat

Nobody wants to be half way through there day and trying to reapply their make-up at the beach. You also don’t want the sweat lines from your foundation running down your face. Here are some great ways to keep your make-up looking great through the hot summer days.

1. Use A Primer. Primer’s will make your make-up go on smoother, moisturize your skin and last much longer then your make-up would without it. They also have an SPF in them as well. But be sure to reapply sunscreen if you are going to be in the sun all day.

2. Avoid Heavy Foundations. Most liquid and cream foundations contain oil in them which will sweat off in the sun giving you a streaky look. Try using a powder instead. If you would rather have something with more coverage, use a cc cream. They moisturize your skin, contain an SPF and provide great coverage. The coverage is so good because it soaks into the skin, so it doesn’t sit on top of it and it works for all skin types.

3. Use A Brush And Nix The Sponge. Sponges apply make-up much heavier then a brush will. When using a powder you want a light hand to apply an even coat. Using a brush will give you a lighter, more natural finish.

4. Make Your Eye Liner Last. For the summer, liquid liner is too much, and crayon liners will melt off. To have great eyeliner, apply with a pencil liner 1st then top with an eye shadow of the same color. It will make the liner pop and stay on longer. Make sure to use an eye shadow primer 1st.

5. Stick With 1 Shadow Color. If you are going to an event or something special, then play up the eyes with one of your normal looks. But for an every day summer look, keep it simple. Stick to one color on your lids. 

6. Avoid Dark Lips. Dark lipstick is gorgeous, but harder to touch-up. While you can help seal it in with a powder or by lining your lips 1st with a lip liner, it’s just best to switch to a lighter color. They are easier to fix and you can wear them all day a lot easier.

7. No Lip Gloss. Did you know that lip gloss attracts sunlight, which can lead to sun burnt lips? Well, it can! Ouch! If you are looking still to have a hint of color, try a tinted lip balm instead. You can apply one that has SPF so you won’t have burnt lips.

Summer days are some of the best days. All the fun and memories you make, shouldn’t be with half smeared make-up on your face. For all of those who love to go bare faced, more power to you. For those of us that prefer a little something, hope these tips help!


Tips To Getting A Better Nights Sleep

We all have those nights where you are tossing and turning all night long so it seems like you slept for maybe a total of 2 hours. This is fine if it happens every once in a while but when it starts to become a reacquiring thing, it might be time to reevaluate some things. Here are some tips on things you can do to help get a better nights sleep.

1. Get On A Schedule.

Now this doesn’t mean you have to go to bed and wake up at exactly the same time every day but get close. Start by going to bed at the time you normally start to feel tired at. This will start you on a normal time to fall asleep at. When you wake up in the morning, if it is on your own terms (no sudden awakenings) then this is your body’s way of saying you have had enough rest. If you wake up from your alarm clock and you still feel tried and groggy, you may want to set an earlier bed time. Also, if you tend to take naps, limit them to 20 minutes or less. It will make falling asleep easier rather than harder.

2. Controlling Light Exposure. 

You want to get as much light exposure during the day and the least amount at night. This helps to keep your days and nights separate. During the day, enjoy the natural sunlight as much as possible. Whether it is going for walks, opening curtains or just going for a drive to help make you feel more alert. During the night, limit your lighting. When its time for bed, eliminate any light you can, it makes your brain think its time to sleep then.

3. Exercise Regularly.

People who exercise regularly will have a higher metabolism and more energy throughout the day. Any amount of exercise will help, but it takes time for you to see results. It is better to exercise in the morning or afternoon because your body takes time to calm down after an exercise. It is best to exercise 3 hours or early before you plan on going to bed. 

4. Eating & Drinking Right.

Eating and drinking right before bed can keep you up at night. Avoid eating anything heavy for 2 hours before you plan on going to sleep. You should also try cutting down on caffeine, not drinking alcohol before bed, and avoid drinking too many liquids before bed. It will make you have to get up more in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Some good snacks to have before bed that will help you sleep are turkey, bananas, granola with milk or yogurt, and whole grain or low sugar cereal.

5.  Get Massages.

Massages not only relax your muscles and mind but they promote overall health for your body. By getting a massage once a month, you will relieve any stress and tension that you place onto your body which makes it harder to relax. It will help to relax and clear your head so there are less thoughts to keep you up at night. After a massage, your body will be more energized and clear so you will be able to accomplish more. How To Create The Perfect Date Night Look

Everyone is always nervous about what to wear, how to do there make-up, and how to wear there hair for a first date or important date. There is no need to stress about it. Here are some easy tips on how to wear your hair, your make-up, what perfume scents are best, and what you should always keep on you (in case of an emergency!)



You want to look pretty, attractive, but not overly done. Think about where you are going for the date. Most likely some place with dimer lighting, so do not over do the skin make-up. Skip bronzer and use a light foundation, bb cream or tinted moisturizer. Be sure that it matches your skin tone, you don’t want to have your neck one color and face another color. Apply a light amount, enough to cover your whole face without layering it on. Next is blush. Use a cream blush for the best application and longer lasting results.Powder blush easily comes off when you wipe your face with a napkin. If you have darker skin, go for something with a red tone in it. For lighter skin, go for a light rose colored blush. It adds a pop of color to the cheeks without making your whole face look pink or red.


For your eyes keep it more simple. Do a more relaxed smokey eye. For lighter skin, use a brown liner to first define your upper lashes. For darker skin, use black or dark grey. Lightly smudge the liner before applying a grey eye shadow. Finish your eyes with your favorite mascara that really makes your lashes look fuller and longer.


For your lips, keep it natural and simple. First line your lips and fill them in with a lip liner that is the same shade or slightly darker then your natural lip color. The lip liner will act as a base to allow the lipstick to last longer and not run. *(Always use a lip liner before applying lipstick It defines the shape of your lips and keeps it from running or smearing as easily.) Follow with a glossy lipstick or gloss of the same shade. The shine will make your lips look fuller and irresistible.




The three things for great date night hair is that you want it to shine, look great and be soft. A messy look is a good look to go for. It makes you seem playful but well put together. Try a messy bun. It is quick and easy and can make your look more fun. Another great idea is do a lose braid into a ponytail, bun or just in front. You can do a rope braid, or french braid. Braids are cute and can make a look playful  but sophisticated. There is also nothing wrong with having a great blow-out. It is a very classy look.




Wearing the right perfume can set off good vibes for another date, while wearing the wrong perfume can be a complete turnoff. Do not wear anything to strong. Strong perfumes can turn guys away quickly, and they may be sensitive to certain smells. Also do not spray too much. You do not want it to cover your whole body. Add a spray behind each ear, on your wrist, (rub together) and behind your knees. It is just enough so whenever you move, he can get a bit of your scent. The spray behind each knee, allows the scent to travel up as it evaporates, keeping your perfume lasting longer. Stay away from citrus and  fruity scents. Stick to a classic scent that makes you feel sexy and confident. Wait 30 minutes before your date arrives to apply your perfume. It allows the perfume to really soak into your body. Also after you spray, wait a few minutes before getting dressed. If you spray it on your clothes, they may stain.



You should always keep a few emergency items in your purse besides the usual pain killers, tampons/pads, and your make-up for easy touch ups. You should keep a mini bottle of your perfume just in case you need an extra spritz. Blotting sheets to absorb any excess oil on your skin, it works better then powder. A mirror, or a phone case that has a built in mirror for easy touch ups. Also create a little emergency kit to take with you anywhere. Have it include deodorant, deodorant wipes, a stain remover, hair spray, nail files, gum or mints, and the rest of the stuff we have listed. It will keep you prepared for all situations.

Protecting Yourself From UV Exposure

Now that the warmer weather is here, and you are going to be outside enjoying it, remember that you are being exposed to UV rays. UV exposure can be harmful to your skin and your hair. UVA rays are aging rays that cause wrinkles in the skin. UVB rays are burning rays that cause sun burns and skin cancer. Preventing damage to your skin and hair is much easier than reversing the damage after it has already happened. Here are some ways to help prevent sun damage to your hair and skin.

When you apply sunscreen to your body, be sure to apply it to your entire body. Even the areas that are covered by clothing can get skin cancer. You should apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside, the spray kind is the easiest to use. Avoid sun exposure after applying perfume. Some of the chemicals in perfume can remove the sunscreen, which can lead to a sunburn. Re apply sunscreen every 2-4 hours you are outside. Water and sweat can help to remove sunscreen, so it is best to always reapply after being in water or performing a physical activity.

Many people do not protect there hair when they go in the sun. The suns rays over a period of time can be just as damaging as bleaching your hair. The most common way to protect your hair is to wear a hat. If a hat is not your style, make sure to apply sunscreen to your part and hairline. Before you go in the sun, use a deep conditioning treatment, preferably one that has vitamins a, c, or e in it. They are essential to keep your hair strong and healthy. Do not use hair spray, it sits on your hair and offers no protection. Instead find and use products that soak into your hair. Do not wash your hair everyday, but when you do, if you have spent a lot of time outside use a deep conditioning hair mask to re-hydrate your hair. 

When you do your daily face cleaning routine, include a moisturizer that has an SPF in it. The extra SPF will help stop damaging sun rays from aging your skin. Before applying sunscreen, apply an antioxidant serum. It will add a layer of extra protect onto your face. Apply the sunscreen on your face, but avoid your eyelids. The skin on your eyelids is so thin, that the sunscreen can actually soak right through it and cause damage to your eyes. If you are going to be wearing make-up while outside, use mineral make-up that have ingredients like titanium dioxide and zinc in them. The titanium dioxide acts as a sunscreen, and the zinc helps as a healing device for sunburns and other skin irritations. On your lips, add a layer of lip balm with SPF in it. It helps prevent dryness, cracking, and sunburn.

To insure the best protection from the sun, check to make sure your sunscreen has not expired, that you limit your exposure time between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm, and that you are constantly reapplying sunscreen while you are outside. Skin cancer is easily treated and prevented. Avoid going outside without sunscreen, and tanning beds to lower your risk of getting skin cancer. Follow these tips to healthier skin and hair.


At Home Treatments For All Hair Types

Treatments can be great for your hair, and should be done once a week if you have damage to your hair. If you do not use the proper treatment for your hair type, it can end up having negative effects like to much oil, frizzy hair, and dry hair. Here are some treatments you can try at home for in between salon visits.

1. Basic Treatment. A basic treatment is one that works for all hair types. In the shower, apply a deep conditioner from the mid shaft of your hair to the ends. Let it sit on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse. If you have damaged hair from excessive coloring, or using to many heat products on it, let it sit in a towel after a shower for 10 extra minutes then rinse. You will have softer feeling hair. For best results do this treatment about once a week.

2. Fine Hair Treatment. If you have fine hair, using anything that is heavy and with lots of oils will weigh your hair down. Use a deep conditioning treatment, that has a volume booster. It will keep your hair soft, but when you go to style it, it will help you add the volume you desire. Do not use this too often because it will cause your hair to build up excess oil. Start out using it once a week for one month, then do every other week.

3. Medium to Thick Hair Treatment. Look for products that have natural oils in them. Oils like avocado, argan, coconut, sunflower, or almond will help to repair damaged hair. They will also help give a natural shine, and help your hair to grow stronger. Use this treatment as often as you find necessary but no more then once a week.

4. Coarse Hair Treatment. Every morning, use a quarter sized amount of an all natural oil to smooth the ends of your hair, and make easier for styling. Once a week use a deep scalp and hair mask, preferably once that nourishes the hair. It will help to smooth down and make your hair softer, so it is easier to manage and style.

5. Colored Hair Treatments. If you color your hair, it is more damaged then it would be normally. To help restrengthen your hair, use treatments that are enriched in keratin. The keratin soaks into the hair shaft, adding moisture back into the hair. For a greater effect, add the oil based treatment to your conditioner and let it sit on for 10 to 15 minutes so it can really soak in. Do this once a week and your hair will start to feel and look much healthier. 

Try these treatments to help repair the damage that is done to your hair on a daily basis. You will soon have healthier looking and feeling hair.



4 Ways To Glam Up Your Eye Make-up

Eye make-up is one of the easiest things to change up, and make a statement with. There are countless different colors you can use and different techniques to apply them. Spring is almost here, so it is time to change up your eyes. Here are the four hot trends for spring.


  1. Cat Eyes.  The cat eye trend has been around since the 50’s. It is making a come back in a dramatic and casual way. Angelina Jolie has the less dramatic version of the cat eye. To do a cat eye, use a hand held mirror under your chin so you look down. Put a neutral eye shadow on your lids. Pull your eye taunt and apply from the inner to outer corners of your lid using a brush and black powder. Lightly flick up at the ends. Go over with a liquid eyeliner. Go over more times to increase the thickness and to make it more dramatic like Amy Winehouse. Either way, it is a quick and easy way to update your eyeliner.


2. Lashes. Fake lashes or eyelash extensions are great for any day and any occasion. You see them used on the runway and for photo shoots, but they can be done in a less dramatic fashion, and give you the appearance of naturally fuller, longer lashes. The most common and easiest form are band lashes. To apply, add a coat of mascara to your normal lashes. Trim the false lashes to fit onto your own. Apply a thin layer of lash glue. Let it sit for about 10 seconds. Attach to your lashes using tweezers, and push them up so they are attached at the base of your lashes. These will give you the look of longer fuller lashes, but you may be able to tell they are fake.  You can also use individual lashes. When applying individual lashes, start with longer lashes on the outer edge and work to small lashes on the inner portion of your lid. It will make them look much more natural. Apply a small amount of glue, and stick them to your natural lashes at the base, using tweezers. Move the lash so it is in place, and make sure it is fully secured. They usually last 2-3 days.


3.Blue Shadow. When most people think of blue eye shadow, they think of bright blue 80’s shadow, and it scares them. Blue shadow can be much more toned down, and elegant. If you are going for a smokey eye look, mix dark blue on the crease of your eye lid, and apply a dark grey on the eyelid. Use a white or light colored shadow to highlight underneath your brows. You can also do blue shadow like an eye liner. Pick the blue you want to use and do a thin line at your lashes on the top lid and underneath on your lower lid. 


4. Copper & Metallic. Copper and metallic are extremely in and can work with any skin tone. To make this look succeed, the key is in a smooth application. Apply the color in a smooth motion, and use a brush to apply a lighter form of the color you used underneath your eyebrow and right above the crease of your eye to highlight the color.. Apply a thin line underneath the bottom lashes to complete the look.


Try one of these spring eye trends, for a night out or even just for a daily look. You will see that it will make your eyes really pop, and dress up any outfit.




Why You Should Try Sugaring.

In the world there are two forms of hair removal methods; temporary and permanent. Each has advantages and disadvantages. There is a newer method of hair removal called sugaring. I am going to talk to you about the different forms of hair removal and why you should try sugaring.

Temporary Hair Removal. Temporary hair removal is done by either depilation or epilation. Depilation is the removal of hair above the skin and epiliation is the process of damaging skin cells deep into the skin. 

Shaving: Shaving is one of the best known and most popular form of temporary hair removal. There are many different types of shaving equipment. You can use disposable, or reusable razors, and they have different razors for men and women. Shaving is cheap and easy form of temporary hair removal. Shaving can cause razor burns, bumps, bleeding and ingrown hairs, and the results only last for a few days.

Depilatory Creams: Depilatory creams such as Nair, are creams that you rub onto a area of hair, and let it sit for 5-10 mins, and wipe away with a damp cloth. You have smooth skin for about a week. It sounds fine, but it is made of harmful chemicals that burn the hair off. If you have any cuts, or have sensitive skin, you can get very bad chemical burns. 

Threading: Threading is a common Middle Eastern form of hair removal. It can be seen and done in malls all over the world. They use thread that is looped around the hair, and moved in quick motions to remove the hair. It looks like a effective way of removing hair, but all threading does is cut the hair at the follicle. It is actually very similar to shaving. If done wrong, threading can cause bacterial infections, redness, and irritation to the threaded area. It can also be very painful.

Waxing: Waxing is the best form of temporary hair removal. It removes hair from the follicle for an average of 4-6 weeks. The hair has to be at least half an inch long for waxing to fully remove the hair. It is quickly done. Waxing can have many side effects though. It can cause stinging, bleeding, ingrown hairs, bumps, redness, burning or tearing of the skin.

Permanent Hair Removal Permanent hair removal is the act of completely removing the hair from an area of skin. It can be done through electrolysis, and sugaring. Permanent hair removal is done in many sessions, and it prolongs the hair growth, so it gets thinner, and thinner after each session, to the point where is doesn’t grow back at all.

Electrolysis: Electrolysis is a laser hair removal method. Light is directed at the hair and absorbed by dark pigment, which results in the destruction of the hair follicle.This method is sometimes permanent after many session. Laser hair removal is done in a number of sessions, which is very expensive and very painful to get done. Many places charge at least a couple hundred dollars up to thousands of dollars per a session. 

Sugaring: Sugaring is a more relaxing alternative to hair removal than waxing. Sugaring can cause some redness, or irritation, but side effects are very minimal and are gone by the end of the day. Sugaring allows clients to have soft skin for weeks, as the all natural paste exfoliates as it removes unwanted hair. Along wit the fact that the unwanted hair has been removed and stays off much longer than that of waxing or shaving, you also have baby-soft skin. No stubble or growth for weeks! In fact, frequent sugaring can actually become permanent. You should have sugaring done every 4-6 weeks. After a few sessions, the hair will grow back slower and thinner, so your time in between sessions, becomes more and more.

1. Metallic eyes. Metallic eyes is one of the biggest trends of 2013, and they are trends that everyone can pull off. For eyes, bronze, copper, and platinum are the colors you want to work with. To pull off the metallic eyes, be sure to use a small amount of eyeliner, and one or two coat of mascara, and keep the rest of your make-up simple. If you have brown or hazel eyes, stay towards the coppers, browns and golds. Earth tones will enhance your eyes, and not take away from them. For blue or gray eyes, go with something that has blue undertones and stay with the silvers and platinum’s. They will make your eyes appear bluer, or grayer and it will really catch peoples attention. And for green eyes, you can use any form of these metallic’s that you would like. They will all enhance your eyes, but do not go over-board with the amount that you put on.  

2. Orange Lips. The orange lip is a retro trend that is making a comeback in a big way. To pick the right orange for your lips, break the oranges up into 3 categories, light, medium, and dark. Now the lighter your skin tone, the darker the shade you can go with. You can always go a little lighter, if you do not think the color you picked suits you. To finish off the look, use minimal eye shadow, apply lots of mascara, and eyeliner if you wear it. Also add a bit of bronzer to your cheeks to balance out the look. The orange is what you are using as the statement, so do not go overboard with the rest of your make-up.

3. Barely There Make-up. The barely there make-up trend is wearing very natural looking make-up so that to the eye, it looks like you are not wearing any. Start out by using a foundation that matches your skin tone, and make sure it is evenly applied. Use a light amount of blush, to add the natural pink tone into your cheeks. Apply a thin coat of mascara, and finish with a tinted lip balm that matches you lip color or is slightly darker. This is a look that is guaranteed to leave people guessing, does she naturally look like that.

6 Ways To Change Up Your Lips!

Lipstick is becoming a big fashion statement. Women are using all sorts of different colors for there lips to make them stand out. There are no colors that some women won’t try to make an outfit come together or to add a pop of color. Here are 6 different lipstick trends that are sure to make a statement. 

1. Glossy Lips. Orange lips are more of a retro trend that is making it’s way back. You can make it even more trendy by adding a gloss over the orange lipstick. The gloss gives a more futuristic feel, to enhance the retro orange. This look can be great for day or night, and be sure to add extra gloss on the center of the bottom lip. It is were the light will catch the shine the most.

2. Pucker Lips. To get the look of fuller lips without actually getting injections, exfoliate around your lips. When you are exfoliating the rest of your face, be sure to do right around your lip lines. Then line your lips with lip liner that matches the lipstick you are planning to wear. (I recommend red) After you have applied your lipstick, use a thin line of highlighter around the upper lip. It will really enhance your lip color and give an appearance of fuller, beautiful lips.

3. Lip Cleavage. Lip cleavage is a big runway trend for 2013. It is used to add a dramatic edge to a daytime outfit. Use a lip liner and create a dramatic heart-shaped lip line that draws down to the corners of your mouth, ad trace the outline of your bottom lip as normal. Cover the rest of your lips with lipstick. To clean up any excess liner, use a lip brush dabbed in concealer. It will help finish off your perfect lip shape.   This is the finished look.

4. Fuchsia Lips. Fuchsia lips are not for the shy and timid. They are made to stand out and make a statement. With fuchsia lips, you start by outlining your lips with a liner, then add the lipstick. Use a lip brush to blend the liner into the lipstick so there are no harsh lines, and go over the lined part of your lips with a lip brush as well. It will smooth everything out so it all blends beautifully together.

5. Berry Lip Stain. A lip stain is achieved by using a lip pencil instead of a lipstick. Use a lip balm or chapstick to prep your lips before adding the pencil. It makes the lips easier to line and fill. Next pick a berry lip pencil and line your lips. Then fill in the rest of your lips using the pencil. To add fullness, add more color to the corners of your mouth. Finish off with a light lip gloss, just to add a touch of shine.

6. The Heart Art Lips. Another right off the runway, retro trend that is making its way back into style. This trend is created with bright, fun, lip colors. Use a lip liner to outline your lips. Use a lip brush and quick, short, strokes, use lipstick to create a heart in the center of your lips. Using your top lip as the top of the heart and bottom lip for the bottom of the heart. The bottom lip does not have to end perfectly like a heart does. Then use a lip brush to fill in around the heart with the same color that you used as a liner.  This is an example of the finished look. This trend is for people that are very fashion forward, and like to make a big statement.

Helping your skin receive what it needs and doesn’t need, from N to Z

I hope you all enjoyed the last blog post. To coincide with the last blog I posted, this is a continuation of that same article. The first half of the article was A to M, so now I will finish off with N to Z.

N. Neuromodulators. Neuromodulators, also known as botox, is used to smooth lines in your forehead and eye area by temporarily paralyzing the underlying muscle. If done correctly, your face will have a relaxed look, but if done incorrectly your face can become permanently paralyzed. 

O. Ozone. Ozone pollution from the decreasing ozone layer, does not help our bodies inside or out. Twenty minutes of high ozone exposure is a big factor in premature aging. Use a product with alkylguanine transferase in it. It has an enzyme in it that repairs ozone induced damage on the skin. Ozone pollution is only common in large cities, or places that have factories, so many people do not have to worry about this on a daily basis.

P. Pores. As we get older, sun exposure damages the fibers that help keep skin smooth and firm, causing pores to expand. In a shower, allow the water to get as hot as you can handle it, so the stem opens up your pores. Then use an exfoliant to clean your skin. After you get out, use an anti-aging mattifying lotion.  

Q. Q-10. Q-10 is an antioxidant and hydrator that strengthens the top layer of the skin, which helps it seal in moisture. It is also an anti-inflammatory.

R. Retinoids. Retinoids are a vitamin a derivative, that increases cell turnover and stimulates collagen production. The collagen production helps smooth skin, treat discoloration, and acne. Do not use every night at first, because there can be some irritation. Use a few times a week, and to ease into it.

S. Stem cells. Stem cells can regenerate indefinitely, and repair tissue they reside in. By apply stem cells from a plant, it can help you get your skin to act younger, which in return can help it look younger.

T. Tanning beds. Tanning beds are used to get UV rays into your skin, which makes it darker, but they also can accelerate the aging process of your skin and increases your risk of skin cancer. Instead go a more natural route and use a self tanner. You will have healthier skin and look younger, longer.

U. UVA & UVB rays. UVA rays cause aging in the skin and UVB rays cause burning in the skin. Both can cause skin cancer. Keep your skin safe, and use sunscreen everyday.

V. Veins. Veins can come from all sorts of contributions. The best fix is sclerotherapy, a procedure where a dermatologist injects the veins with saline. Injecting it causes the veins to collapse, and the blood to be rerouted. To help prevent spider veins, wear compression stockings or support hose.
